Topic: Advances and Structural Insights of Emerging Industrial and Therapeutic Biomolecules

Enzymology in nonaqueous media and high temperatures has led to a molecular understanding of function of proteins over decades. In such non-conventional conditions, enzymes which are made from protein often exhibit reduction of enzymatic activity through several ways such as diffusional limitations, active centre blockage, conformational changes, unfavourable energetics of substrate desolvation, transition state destabilization, reduced conformational mobility and suboptimal pH situation. Denaturation and inactivation of enzymes as the main nuisance in employment of these so-called harsh conditions for enzymatic reactions were no longer applicable when the breakthrough that naturally occurring extremophilic enzymes have greatly expanded their applications in industries especially synthesis of biomedical products. From our study, we have unveiled a fundamental principle pertaining changes and adaptation of protein secondary structures in various industrial conditions, which is essential to address initial answers related to structures, dynamics, functions and stability of proteins. Also, we will discuss on our recent strategy in discovery of lipase inhibitors from Aquilaria sp.
